The winner will get a $2,500 scholarship, using a $1,000 scholarship for initial runner-up and $500 into the next runner-up. Several other added prizes will probably be awarded.

"The assignment of this ORPC is to offer diverse opportunities for its evolution of the young girls of Oklahoma to maximize their academic potential while promoting the sport of rodeo, the State of Oklahoma, its own heritage and the western method of life. The Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Pageant chooses Oklahoma's representative to the Miss Rodeo America Pageant held annually in Las Vegas within the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo "We Understand that engaging in the Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Pageant alters resides.
The learning and personal development is a benefit in itself," said Shumway. "We expect these scholarships will be incentives to get more of Oklahoma's young girls to participate."
